RED OAK OUTDOOR LIGHTING WINS NATIONAL AWARD FROM ASSOCIATION OF OUTDOOR LIGHTING PROFESSIONALS

2020 AOLP Award Winner

Lexington-based Red Oak Outdoor Lighting took home a 2020 Award of Excellence for Top Outdoor Lighting Project at this year’s Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals (AOLP) annual conference & expo, held in late February in Orlando, Fla.

Owner Kyle Adamson accepted the award for his company’s work on the Patton Lakehouse project, an exterior lighting installation on a private lake residence in London, Ky.

Red Oak worked with the homeowners to install illumination along pathways from the house to an exterior firepit and lakefront dock access. Lights were also installed along the property’s entry drive and parking areas and within the property’s mature tree line so that nighttime views of the surrounding forest were possible from the home’s two-story back deck. In all, the installation included roughly 120 fixtures.

“The property’s firepit area is such a great space. The property owners are down there every weekend during the summers, entertaining friends and extended family,” said Adamson. “We created soft downlighting to highlight the space and accent lighting to show some depth and highlight the trees.”

“The lights provided an aesthetic enhancement as well as a safety feature, allowing the homeowners to get safely from their property to the firepit and dock, where they have boat access,” Adamson added.

Red Oak Outdoor Lighting was one of only seven firms nationally to earn AOLP’s Award of Excellence this year. The complete list of winners is available at https://aolponline.org/lighting-awards/2020-lighting-awards.
